Surprisingly Simply Candy Land Birthday Cake

By Rachels Promise
on July 30, 2015

Fun Candy Land Birthday Cakes are amazingly simple to create and save yourself the baking by purchasing a 1/4 or 1/2 sheet cake.

How to Decorate Your Cake

  • The road to Candy Land is flattened Starburst candies
  • The ‘Gingerbread Tree’ is a gingerbread man (not shown)
  • ‘Peppermint Forest’ is decorated with candy canes & peppermints
  • Of course add gumdrops for the ‘Gumdrop Mountains’
  • Don’t forget ‘Licorice Forest’ with Twizzlers and black licorice
  • ‘Peanut Acres’ is simply a few circus peanuts & peanut butter morsels
  • Pop in some lollipops of all shapes and sizes for ‘Lollipop Woods’.
  • Sweet icing filled cones decorate Princess Frostine’s ‘Snow Flake Lake’
  • The ‘Chocolate Swamp’ can be rich chocolate cupcakes & morsels; add a larger cupcake to be Gloppy
  • Finish the cake off with King Candy’s ‘Candy Castle’ shown here with coconut bars but m&m’s also work great!

Let you imagination run wild and your little one will feel like they’re in Candy Land!

Incredible, edible……. … finger paint???

By Rachels Promise
on July 26, 2015

That’s right; this cool finger paint is 100% edible. This recipe has very similar texture as store bought and the result is excellent. Your infant or toddler can eat it while they work on their masterpieces!
• Divide vanilla yogurt (or vanilla pudding) into separate bowls
• Add food coloring until you get the color you want
Throw the paint away after use – storage for later use is not recommended since it is a dairy product.

Have a Snow Ball Fight in July!

By Rachels Promise
on July 25, 2015

Keep them busy with snow in July!

This easy to make and easy to clean ‘snow’ is perfect for snowball target practice in the tub or outside.
All you need is 1 large box of baking soda emptied into a bowl; slowly add water until you can form a nice snowball.
For added realism allow it to chill in the fridge for an hour (this is optional).
After they are done playing give them a spray bottle of vinegar, spray the snow and watch it fizzle!

Keep Cool & Have Fun with Frozen Sidewalk Chalk

By Rachels Promise
on July 24, 2015

Try a cool, frozen version of sidewalk chalk paint. Mix your sidewalk chalk paint and freeze in ice cube trays or Popsicle trays.

Mix 1/2 Cup Cornstarch & 1/2 Cup Water in a bowl and pour into the containers you’re going to use, then add a few drops of Food Coloring (to your preference) in each individual container. To get the ‘Swirled’ design simply add a drop or so of the different food color and using a toothpick give the mixture a couple of slow, gentle swirls.

Frozen chalk paint makes a beautiful blend of colors as they slowly melt from use and your child will have fun making a sloppy mess.

Simply hose them, and the sidewalk, off afterwards or let them run through the sprinklers to get clean!
